Issue 58: Influencers, CEOs who snubbed Zuck, MLM and Client Attraction

This week we spent some time looking at influencers

Now before you start, we know. We really do. Some of them can be proper idiots.

I mean, I’ve read countless stories of skint students in skimpy bikinis pretending their latest Bali Airbnb is their permanent home.

However, there is a brighter side – there are a few guys and girls out there who have a genuine connection with their audience. We take a look at how to separate the ‘wheat from the Chavs’ and the best way to work with the genuine influencers.

Talking of love-hate relationships, it’s unlikely that you can spend any time talking to another marketer without Facebook ads coming up. But is there another way? We look at several CEOs who refuse to kneel before Sir Zuck and don’t use Facebook at all.

Surely business is simple – find someone who needs what you have and agree on a price. Well, on paper that’s how it happens. But we’ve all been on the wrong end of plenty of clients from hell, so we take a look at 4 ways to attract and retain ideal clients.

Regular readers will know that we’re not huge fans of Network Marketing here (AKA MLM). We recently watched a documentary on the industry, and if the interviewees are to be believed, then some of the big players are, at best, misleading their teams, and at worst, exploiting them.

You can see the BBC documentary here.

Anyway – that’s enough grumpiness for this week. I’m blaming the rain.

Talk soon,
