Deep fakes have (rightfully) aways had quite negative connotations; Like most of the technology that appears on the web, they seemed to originate from the porn world.
You see, a few years ago, mainstream actresses were suddenly ‘appearing’ in adult movies.
They certainly appeared to be real to anyone watching. However, it turned out that these were ‘deep fakes’ – kind of like Photoshop for video.
Whilst that kind of use case is at best, worrying, and at worst, downright evil, we ask ourselves, ‘Can Deep Fakes be used for good rather than evil?’. The answer is a tentative yes. Read more here.
