Facebook launched an update to the Messenger app yesterday that allows Page owners to send rich media via the app. I know – I thought you already could…
Turns out that if you use the Messenger for Business app to respond to posts or comments on your FB page, you were restricted to plain text only. Until yesterday.
With this update, businesses can send images, templates and quick replies as part of messages sent in response to a post or comment on their Page.

The same treatment has been applied to the Private Replies function, meaning you can now send an actual photo of your customer’s package leaving the warehouse, if you fancied it.

The other major update is hidden in tech-talk:
Now when people click URL buttons with the App Link metadata, it will enable developers and businesses to provide a button that will directly open the target native app.
What we understand that to mean is that if you have a native app on a customer’s smartphone, you can send links via the Messenger app that opens in your own app.
All sounds pretty good to be honest.
